Why I’m closing the signature ‘thing’ in my business

Hey friend,

I have some big news to share today.

Probably one of the biggest decisions I have made in my entrepreneurial journey to date.

I’m closing WSS (The Wildly Successful Society) – a monthly membership program that I’ve been running for the past 3 years.

The foundational offering in my business.

The thing that supports 100+ women to keep on keeping on…

AND the thing that pays my bills!

I know – it’s a MASSIVE change and a BIG decision and I want to share why I’ve made this decision in the hope it helps you check in with your own business (and comfort zones!).

As you know, one of my core values in my business is to be open and honest about my journey.  I don’t think enough people share the behind the scenes, and the hard decisions that as business owners we often have to make.

So, first – Why I’ve made this decision.

For the past 6 months, I’ve been struggling with a few keys things in my business.

– I myself have been growing and feeling called to support business owners in a much bigger, deeper way and I’ve been experimenting and thinking on what this looks like.

– WSS was so transformative for many women but with the way the model is set up – I could only support so much and I was frustrated seeing talented, capable women simply not getting the support they needed to do the work and get the results I know they can get.

And, I also realized something.

The very thing that I’m frustrated with – talented, deserving women sitting in their comfort zone – is exactly what I was doing by keeping WSS open.

I’ve had to face some hard truths about my own journey and how I’ve been sitting in my “comfort zone” for a while now with some parts of my business.

Side Note: I changed my whole lifestyle last year (from digital nomad to a homeowner in Spain) so yes I do agree that sometimes it’s ok to sit in your comfort zone – when you’re stretching elsewhere.

But deep down I knew I couldn’t use that as an excuse any longer!

When I look at the momentum from my mastermind clients and my 1:1 clients and see what’s possible with the right support, I kept coming back to how could I better support my members to get the same kind of transformation.

I’m learning what better results I can get if I’m actually “in it” with them.

My word for August was Connection so I decided to offer 25 Free Business Strategy Sessions to my newsletter list.  They all got booked within 24 hours and I have had a LOT of fun delivering these and ‘connecting’.

I wasn’t selling anything, just serving – and witnessing where people were getting stuck.

These free strategy calls have shown me how powerful it is AND how much I love getting stuck in more with people’s businesses – that’s where the progress happens when I can get in beside you and give advice from that place.

In fact, my secret superpower is that in just one conversation, I can zero in and layout the EXACT plan an entrepreneur needs to get maximum results.

I see potential everywhere.

Every time I talk to a business owner, I get excited because I see what’s possible.

And to be honest I’m tired of being on the outskirts, watching what’s going on and not being able to make a difference.

Deep support – not shallow.

That’s what I’m feeling called to do right now.

OMG Universe why can’t I be happy plodding??!

Closing my signature thing is not a decision I have taken lightly, but it became crystal clear when I realised I was playing small and allowing others to do the same.

Over the last 6 months, I have tried a few different things to help the members get results but one thing keeps coming up:

When you INVEST in your growth, you not only invest financially but you invest emotionally too.

So many of the members told me they weren’t using the tools.

Investing small keeps you small.

At some point, you have to get serious.

Me playing small = allows my members to do the same.  #notcool

I’ve called myself out and now I’m lovingly calling my community out too.

Anything that is within your comfort zone is basically going to keep you where you are right now.

What’s going to be different in one or two years time for you?

This stuff is so important … and so bloody uncomfortable!!

The thing is just beyond your comfort zone is the place where you grow.  Yet so many people are not stretching themselves and therefore not getting the results.

So that’s why I’m closing my signature thing.  The most amazing community of gorgeous women which has helped 100’s reclaim their time and chase their dreams.

Letting go of something that is working, that looks good on paper, that provides financial security in my business – that takes guts, and trust!

But I also know that comfort zones are not safe for people like us!

I will always be grateful for the 3 years that I got to spend with the members. The breakthroughs and the successes. The friendships and the meetups!

The businesses that have been built inside of WSS.

Big dreams that have been achieved.

But It’s the end of an era.

And the biggest decision in my business yet! Yikes.

Here are my final thoughts:

A smart business owner makes tough decisions. Even when it seems crazy!

Closing down something that works, that pays the bills, that gets results is not a decision I took lightly but when it came to it, it just wasn’t an option to keep holding space in that way anymore.

I felt like I was doing a disservice to my community because I know they are capable of So. Much. More.

Yes, some people may think I’m crazy giving up a pretty decent chunk of income.

And Yes I feel 100% aligned to the decision.  You have to do what feels right for you.

When I was thinking about keeping WSS open, mainly because I didn’t want to let my members down, it felt heavy.

Getting to go deeper with fewer people feels sooooo freakin good.

Expansive.

Exciting.

Needed.

I knew I needed to change something I did not expect it to be this and I can’t wait for what’s coming next!

Nothing gets me more fired up than seeing my clients WIN and I want more of that in my life.

If nothing more, then I hope this message helps you take a long look at when you last left your comfort zone and whether that’s ok!

Thank you so much to my members both current and old, I thank you for this chapter and everything it brought into my world. I will 100% miss our community and I know it’s time to make space for what’s next.

Here’s to #livingbig

Lots of love and thank you to everyone, past and current, for making that community such a special place to be.

You rock like a rocky thing.  We haven’t finished yet!

Love Jo x

PS Let’s do this and by ‘this’ I mean step out of the comfort zone and literally IGNITE your business!
