Is “Perfectionism” getting in your way of success?

Can I ask you something personal?  Do you think that this need for everything to be perfect is holding you back?

Is it time for you to get out of your own way?

There are people out there who need what you have to offer – there is no prize for being the worlds best kept secret you know.

Here’s a story about #ImperfectAction

I built my business and my life on imperfect action. I even hashtag it now #ImperfectAction. Always 🙂

Yesterday I took imperfect action again by hosting my first ever online training, I had a very respectful 34 people turn up to my first ever live webinar, and many more are registered for the replay.

Guess what? It wasn’t perfect.

In fact it was far from perfect….and yet it was still successful.

I didn’t get laughed at (Ok maybe I laughed at myself when it took me 5 minutes to find the chat box to see what everyone was saying – slightly hairy start, but I am told that even the top marketers have a story about their ‘first time’ so I’m in good company!).

People still looked at me as the ‘expert’.

AND even though it wasn’t perfect, they purchased my offer.

Yet the whole thing was imperfect.

It was just me getting out there and doing what I love to do.  Sharing the massive love I have of productivity with the world so that they too achieve their dreams. (Productivity is a vehicle that allows me to achieve my dreams – that’s why it’s my No.1 tool).

Here’s a shot of me in action, the lighting is pretty shocking but I still got my training out there and everyone was hugely inspired to change how they go about their day:

It was just me being my authentic self and sharing what I know.

It was far from perfect though.

I still had amazing feedback…and I haven’t beaten myself up once for it not being perfect. Huge progress on my side because there was lots of room for improvement!

Here’s another picture of me taking imperfect action – this is from when I was invited to be a guest speaker on a Google Hangout to talk all things productivity – I was in Bali at the time – check out my make shift set up, again conditions far from perfect.  Did I let it stop me?  No I took some deep breaths and went for it:

And guess what?  I haven’t broken my business or my reputation or lost any friends or clients by things not being ‘perfect’.  What I have done is grown my business a lot, made it successful and not just a ‘hobby’, I’ve got a reasonable size list and I’m living the life I dreamed of.  Freedom to work from wherever I choose.

Where would I be if I had stayed in the ‘safe’ zone until things were perfect.  Probably back in the corporate world no doubt.  Certainly not heading to Australia for 3 months of ‘working from anywhere’.

Please take my word for it, go take some #ImperfectAction, publish that blog post, hit send on that newsletter, just get out there and be visible.

Feel the fear and do it anyway because I promise you from the bottom of my heart – Imperfect Action is always going to be better than NO action!!

Fancy committing to doing something that scares the hell out of you but will grow your business big time??  Please do, I’ll be routing for you.

What’s the worst that can happen?

Jo, an ‘Imperfect Action Taker’

P.S Please feel free to borrow my business mantra ‘Imperfect Action is way better than no action‘. Go on it’s yours anytime you need it, I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
